Outsourcing for ADHDers: We can't do everything (and that’s okay!)
If you’ve ever stared at a sink full of dishes and thought, maybe if I just ignore them, I hear you and feel you. The overwhelm can feel so debilitating at times.
Adulting is hard enough without the executive dysfunction, time blindness, and constant battle with our own brains. We want to eat healthier but forget we even have groceries. We try to clean the house, but the laundry is still in the washer… three days later. We make ambitious plans, then get overwhelmed by the sheer effort required to follow through.
Here’s the game-changing truth: outsourcing isn’t easy—it’s smart. It’s how we give ourselves the space to focus on the stuff that actually matters instead of drowning in the never-ending cycle of unfinished tasks.
Not everything has to be expensive or elaborate. Sometimes, tiny shortcuts can change our lives:
Pre-chopped veggies & pre-made salads – Because if we have to peel a carrot, it’s simply not happening.
Meal-prep kits or delivery services – Taking the “what’s for dinner” panic off our plate (pun intended).
Grocery delivery – Dodging the sensory nightmare of the supermarket while ensuring we don’t forget every single essential item.
Laundry service (even just sometimes!) – Because the alternative is wearing the same hoodie for the fourth day in a row.
When our ADHD brains hit capacity, letting professionals handle the chaos can be a lifesaver:
Hiring a cleaner every now and then – Imagine coming home to a tidy space without having to do anything. Bliss.
Automating bills & appointments – ADHD tax is real, and forgetting to pay that one bill can be a costly disaster.
Outsourcing big events (like birthdays!): Hosting? Overwhelming. Renting a venue? Genius.
Seeking ADHD coaching or therapy – Because support is never a failure—it's an investment in ourselves.
Here’s the magic: outsourcing frees up our mental energy, reduces burnout, and makes life more enjoyable. Instead of feeling guilty about what we "should" be doing, we create more space to live, focus on our passions, and actually relax without the constant weight of unfinished tasks.
So if you need permission to let someone else lighten the load? This is it. Our brains need and thrive with support. Go forth, ADHD warriors, and embrace the outsourcing life - every little helps!
